OGG?   You may have noticed with the newest version of Observatory that we are now offering both OGG and MP3 media formats. As bandwidth usage grows, unfortunately so does our costs. To be able to keep bandwidth down (and therefore costs), the original decision was to convert 100% of Observatory to OGG-only releases. Due to OGG's ability to encode higher quality files at a lower bitrate/file-size, it was an easy choice to switch over and offer lower file-sizes and high quality sound files. Now with the generous support of Archive.org and Scene.org, we're now able to offer both high quality OGG and MP3 releases. In the future, as OGG acheives more penetration into the 'mainstream' consumer section, with increased hardware support, Observatory will gradually shift to a completely OGG-encoded catalog.
