Hello and happy holidays from Observatory! After a self-imposed exile from the net-label world, we're back with a new release from NYC's Boy Name Thor. For years we've been huge fans of Jason's previous work as A Boy Named Thor and Boothby, so it's only natural that we feature Jason's newest project and newest tracks. Thos of you looking for more Boy Named Thor, be sure to visit Jason's website for a special web-only release project, where Jason successfully recorded and posted 100 tracks in 100 days! Well worth your time and attention.

Also, for our German fans, Skylab Operations and Observatory are featured in MP3 form, in the latest edition of Macwelt Magazine's latest iPod special. So run (or walk, or take the Ubahn) to your closest newsstand and pick up a copy, which includes not only lots of great shareware apps for your Mac music experience, but also 12 of Skylab Operations/Observatory's best artists.

YO YO! So, for those who don't know yet (there might be a few of you out there) the Text Adventure CD, "The Golden Portion" is now available from our most favourite (and highly underrated) label, Skylab Operations. 10 songs of sickly-sweet indie-electronica from two young men from Glasgow, Scotland. For those wanting a copy, the only way to get it (for now), is to head over to the Skylab Operations site or the Skylab Operations storefront over at The Blue House.

Also in the news, A NEW RELEASE! Two releases in one month, the sky must be falling, no? We have the debut EP for Night Night! As you can tell by the name, it's a perfect 3-track EP for sitting on porches at dusk and thinking watching the stars. Highly organic, extremely moving, and a great release from an up and coming creator. Stay tuned for many many more new releases, all of the quality you've come to expect from the Observatory.

New release today from Portland, Oregan's Minmae! Josh Kempa (bass), Chris Calvert (drums),and Sean Brooks (guitar, vocals) make clean pop that broils under the sun. Perhaps. How many adjectives can one use? A slight departure from what those familiar with Observatory are used to, but a worthy addition to the Observatory family. Expect more departures in many different directions soon.

After a long delay, we're excited to announce our newest release from Arturo en el Barco! Inspired by the works of Gyorgy Ligeti, Stephen Scott, Pauline Oliveros and Erik Satie, and by the music of Tujiko Noriko, Bjork, Piana and Aroah, among others, Angélica Negrón creates electro-acoustic soundscapes that resemble sad tunes floating in a land where sadness is non existent. Expect more new releases in the coming weeks, we're sure you'll enjoy them as much as we do.

New update! We bring you the newest Observatory artists, all the way from Puerto Rico, Balún! 4 Lovingly dreamy electro-acoustic tracks, showing us that Iceland needs to move over to make way for that tropical island in the Caribbean. In other Observatory news, Adria and Text Adventure will be featured on Mercedes Benz's newest mix-tape! More information to follow once it's released. Speaking of Text Adventure, their debut CD will be available soon from Skylab Operations, the parent label of Observatory. So for now, stay warm and keep your eyes and ears open.

Hello! We're happy to announce the newest OS release from SK Pop. DC area master of drum machines, John Rickman (of Eggs fame for fellow fans of Teenbeat) gives us 4 earlier tracks of lo-fi drumbeat and reverb experiments for your listening pleasure.

We're proud to come out of hiding to give to you our latest release from Germany's d_minum. Usually creating lovingly crafted soundscapes and beats for US label Pehr, Dan took some time out to give us some of his earlier tracks as a teaser to what's coming on his debut full-length album.

Please excuse the lack of updates lately. As always, real work and real life gets in the way of the work you'd rather be doing and things fall behind. We've had several new releases since our last update, from the soothing beats of [ Manticore ], to the genre-spanning remixes of Denmark's Pellarin, to the sickly sweet pop of Glasgow's Text Adventure, who's full-length album will be featured later in the year on our parent label Skylab Operations. We are, as always, working on new releases and we promise you'll start seeing some new songs up here soon for your bandwidth sucking pleasure.

Hello and happy new year! A belated present for you all is now available through Observatory. The new Tree Wave EP! Bridging together an outstanding mix of 80's chip-style and more contemporary female vocal patterns (think Stereolab and Broadcast) into the Observatory family. We hope you enjoy it as much as we, and stay tuned for more new releases on the way.

Two new releases! First, Canadian soundscape artist Monotronaut brings us his debut EP featuring 4 songs of crystal clear guitar-inspired ambient beats pieces. Winter is upon us and there's no better way than sitting in your softest chair and sipping a hot cocoa while spinning Monotronaut's latest. Second up, comes a surprise EP from Skylab Operations favourite, Phasmid. Phasmid brings us 2 older songs showcasing his more abstract ambient-techno phase, along with 1 new demo track from his forthcoming full-length LP coming later in 2004. Keep your eyes and ears open as we have over 15 new releases in the works with many more being planned along the way.
